Grow Into Yourself. It burns! Like hell sulfur. Limbs torn assunder. With each blunder guilt knifes me. Blood corrupted springs free to flow into a sea of redemption. Can I grow into me? Can I be free? Guilt a strict taskmaster. Too stern to cuddle a wayward child like me. Fire now tears into my flesh. Is this how it feels to grow?

Not That Kind of Rich.
I am sure that some of us at least at some point in our lifetime have had this dream to make it big, to be a success and get rich. We may have dreamed of the day when wealth acquired would get us anywhere and everywhere we wanted to be. We could see it then, all the freedom wealth would afford us, all that was before us. “The sky is the limit”, “nothing can stop us now”, we though once we had a chance all we had to do was work hard! So we did, we worked hard day and night, but the change was slow in coming. But, we did not give up because, well, because after all the formula was to never stop, “grinding”, the saying was, “heights of great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they while their companions slept were toiling upwards through the night”. And you really thought you could make it.
So, you toil and toil and toil and toil. Then only to realise that nothing happened. Instead of owning your own jet, to soar you are squashed and bogged down among others who aimed but missed their mark.
You slowly but surely realise that you have not been working to make your dream come through, but someone else’s. You have not been working to make yourself rich but someone else. All that time you spent “grinding”, all your efforts toiling, have only served to remind you that the barrel you try to come out of has no end and no beginning, it just is. So, you hear of a new scheme, the scheme goes if you spend more, you will attract more money to you, and only end up broke. You see, the scheme had no safeguards against limited income, against the pre-existing condition of your poverty. you search out so many schemes, but none of them last because their first and only aim was to extract and store in their own reserve of wealth.
Everyone cannot be rich but you are raised to believe this. So you start many ventures that lead nowhere and projects that never take off the ground. You spend so much time chasing wealth while it seems to run from you. The difference lies in the fact that you cannot see this truth, your vision is clouded by all the scales of lies you refuse to remove.
I have wondered why it seems that at the top there is only a few who benefit from the efforts of many, why only a few make decision that everyone else follows. You will never be rich because it has always been that way and because many do not see this. You could be the most financially responsible person ever, but you will still have those limited dollars swirling in your pocket, eventually reduced to coins and then air, until the next paycheck. After all you have responsibilities.
If we stopped following the “blueprint” for being rich, what are we left with? If we stopped chasing that next dollar, what would we have to chase, to “grind” for and toil for?
Can you be happy knowing that you will never be rich, knowing that any concept of material wealth you acquire will be limite? With knowing that it will never be enough to get you to the first branch of the tree, much less the sky you aim for?
If you think that chasing wealth will ensure you get it, then consider, how many actually do. It is tough to get into that 1% exclusive club, the ones who make things happen but never do those things – well not anymore. It would be easier for you to be rich in other ways than material wealth. Many really do not know what it takes to be rich, and maybe you would not like it. To be rich you may have to be okay with the fact that many around you will suffer to keep you at the top. When how high you go depends on how many people you stand on, without regret.
You decide, what kind of riches you want to have.

A Dose of Reality.
“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
Ah, it’s Monday a day some people wish they could do without – if you work a 9-5 that is…

But then again, everyday is an opportunity to be happy. So lets make ourselves happy. We do this by finding out what can help us get there. I heard a sermon yesterday, that contained some very important reminders we need to hear from time to time; true wisdom nuggets.
If your life is not on the right track, get off that track because you will crash.

Yikes!
Here is a warning that is sure to get your attention. On this beautiful Monday morning, when all we want to do is to crawl back into bed, we are confronted by this. Could it be that any misery we feel comes from being on the wrong trajectory? If so, there is no time like the present to re-evaluate where we are heading and catch another, train or bus if we must!
Existing not living = Taking up space!
Another harsh truth to get your adrenaline rushing in every which direction. Now, when I heard this in church yesterday, I felt a bit attacked. Am I one of those, am I taking up space? Taking up space, does not mean doing nothing; it means your life is now in a loop. You never evolve, grow or flourish OR you don’t allow yourself to do so. Well it seems it’s time to change that before it gets out of hand.

Half way is going nowhere.
For all those who want to be so super correct, politically correct. right or who hope that doing nothing will get you were you want to be. I have news for you too. It would appear that doing nothing, is worse, than doing something and getting it wrong. So while you may fear getting it wrong it’s best to do so, until you find the right formula.
And our favourite line of, “At least I did something” doesn’t count. I would think if you did something, even if it was a flash in the bucket or half-done, would mean something. I mean, no one can say you did nothing; no one can say you did not try.
Apparently going half way is a sure road to going nowhere at all.

So, making that phone call once because you wanted it registered that you did call, doesn’t matter. It seems to get real favorable results, it’s all or nothing! Getting up and showing up does not matter – for the people in the back. What matters is what you do when you turn up. Sitting in a corner quietly is not gonna cut it. Marking your name in the register does not mean that your presence count.
So what does that mean for us?
It means that maybe we need to regroup and come again:
- Get off the path we are on if it’s not working
- Doing meaningful things outside a cookie cutter lifestyle – take a chance and do new things that really matter
- Stop being mediocre
- And really be present and show up and show out!
What every we are pursuing we need to keep these in mind. They will help us to get to the right destination. Remember be realistic; but, a warning, don’t be too realistic:

Is It Over Yet?
Have you ever told a friend, “wake me up when this is over”?

There are times when we just want to exit a difficult period and return when things get better. Unfortunately, life does not give us such gems. We can’t say wake me up when this is over, we have to deal with it sooner or later.

But sometimes we just need a moment to catch our breath and come again. It’s impossible to keep going when not stopping means your physical and mental health could suffer. Sometimes we have to turn our backs to everything and take some time to get ourselves together before we go again.
But remember you have to wake back up and finish what you started!
It Gets Real Ugly
Well today was the day to smell some ugly truths – not very rosy at all!

The smell of reality, you may call it. It was a reminder that some people, irrespective of who they are can be really ugly in their intentions. I was reminded how dishonest some are and that people can really fool you, if you let them.
With a smile, a kind word and a gentle voice, they can lull you and then rob you blind; this is something that can be traumatic for us trusting souls. You can live your life being the world’s most optimistic persons alive, but there are some people who will always try to steal your joy and tempt your ugly out of hiding.

But the ugly truth is, not everyone who stands by you, will be for you. Some are just there for the show and you know this because when the games up, it’s back to regular programming. They leave for a five minutes intermission they take lasts for five months or more – depending on whether the mood strikes to be a casual observer. It may be a hard pill to swallow – and some may even choke trying to deny it but there it is. We may do good things and choose our friends with some amount of self interest in mind -whether consciously or unconsciously. We just need to know what we will tolerate in the relationships we pursue.
We have to evaluate our own intentions, but remember that while you are doing this, someone you are blind to, will be ready to make use of your distractions. Then again are there any pretty truths – who knows! After all the truth is the truth no matter how you spin it.

Remember, bad things will always happen to us, life is not a fairy tale – I mean, we should all know this by now. Its all a part of Murphy’s law: any thing that can go wrong, will go wrong. But when it does, it’s hard to remember that things will get better; and when they do get better, we then forget that something else may fall a part. Life is a beautiful thing!
The ugly we experience and the ugly inside of each of us, will not always last- this is only if we don’t want it to last.
We should not always expect people to say good things behind our backs – that was the day you were born and will be the day you die. Also, people will not only be dishonest with you but also with themselves. And while you’re at it, remember that people will disappoint you, especially those closest to you, just don’t let your emotions rule the day and kill meaningful relationships. You see, people drift in and out of your life and that’s OKAY, that does not define the kind of that they are and that you are.
If we are willing to embrace the reality of life, then when we are faced with the ugly truths, our world will not crumble around us.
