Life

Life
You don't need things to enjoy life- you need life to enjoy things (Myles Munroe)

Why worry
as if you have no life in you?
You are rich
because you have life.
Why be sad
and be confused?
You know what you must do
look for the answers
theyhave been locked inside of you.
Why stare in dismay
and not pray?
Once you say what you must say
then do what you must do
real dreams do come through.
Life
offers so much
take your pieace

Courage Counts

Courage Counts

Everyday to the grave
go obscure great men and women.
Weighed down by fear and timidity
their greatness buried
before their bones hit dirt.
The shadows lament
untried dreams
and aborted first attempts.
like a seed yet to germinate
their potential lay asleep
for more than half a century
never to be woken with the kiss
of consent.
Paralysed by all the what ifs
they never knew
the joy to rise from the ashes.
And so they remained as if
they never were.
And truly they and all they were
remain frozen at a forgotten cliff.

Harvesting In Crisis

Harvesting In Crisis

Are you in a crisis
or
are you in a harvest?
Your crisis
can be somebody's harvest.
What you did will expose you.
Did you keep the faith
set a good foundation?
Hard Times are here,
They come to expose you.
They will tell you the truth,
reveal the true you.
What will you see in your mirror?
Do you see strength
or
Do you see waste?
Will you make it through,
last long enough,
so you and all you do
may gather for the harvest?

Never Too Much

Never Too Much

You can never have too much Patience.
Can you?
You can never tire of love?
Will you?
You can never get sick of peace
Grow frustrated by it?
You can never be too kind.
Throw up at the thought of it?
Have too much self-control.
Can it make you sick?

You can never have
too much of the good things.
and the good things
can revive you like a living spring.

No Excuses

No Excuses

Are you at the edge
trying to get into the healing pool?
You have tried to tip over
But there remained unmoved.
Have angels stired the waters for you
to make then holy?
But still felt trapped by your circumstance?
I am sure you have wondered
why you must linger
and suffer while everyone else jumps in
before you.

Did you try rolling over?
Try getting closer
one inch at a time each day?
Or are you stuck with your excuses
that block your blessings
stops you from making it in?
Has time been robbed from you
because you hesitate?

Do not fear
take up your bed and be of good cheer.
You will be restored and realigned.
You will get back your time.

The Power of the Tongue

The Power of the Tongue

Words thrown carelessly across the front page
cut so deeply
it reaches vital veins.
Puffed up arrogance
can only relate in disdain.
You grow tall or short
depending on the blessing or curse
uttered flippantly
to your face.

Words can hurt
words can kill.

She spews her truth
god complex
her words digs her own grave
her power made impotent
by falsehood uttered in a rage
of hurt and torment.

Words can hurt
words can kill.

I fight the battle uphill
to reach my way to the top
so that I can grab and come back
with the words that will combat those sharp knives
uttered outside the vortex of time.

Words can hurt
words can kill

Sticks and stone
can break your bones
but words
cut much deeper.
They rob your soul
of joy untold
and makes a rich life
so much cheaper.

Words can hurt
words can kill.

Or do they just kill?

On Being Saved

On Being Saved

I got baptized at nineteen
But God is just now saving me.
The water that fateful day
did not clense me
but hard won sorrow like a river
washes away the dirt and decay.
I stepped on the world stage
almost drowned
but God pulled me back
by my kinky hairs and counted each strand
to make sure they were still there.
Now I must come correct.

I really tried to be perfect,
but with each stroke
a piece broke
and the wood had to be refashioned.
Pillaged by too much Arrogance
left half dead by the way side
I now wear the cloak of humility.

Nineteen years,

I was wet behind the ears,
now I am driven by a burning Holy fire.
Disrobed ,
Transformed,
I stand changed by my perfet imperfections.
